About us
Fruitomed is a Quebec enterprise specialized in the production of natural products with a high concentration of polyphenols.
Our beginnings
Our adventure began in 2009 with the creation of our company AU VERSANT DU SUREAU, the company that has been responsible for cultivating our elderberry plantation on a 17-acre parcel of land in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Québec.
There, we only cultivate edible elderberry varieties that were developed specifically for fruit production by AGRICULTURE CANADA.
Processing plant
In 2014, we also created FRUITOMED Inc., which means “Fruits with medicinal properties”, a company that is specialized in the processing of small Québec fruits for the production of natural products with a high concentration of polyphenols.
The 6000 sq ft factory is licensed by Health Canada for the manufacturing of natural products (licence #: 302371). This means that product manufacturing must respect the requirements and quality control measures issued by HEALTH CANADA.
FRUITOMED also has a “Preventive Control Plan” which is monitored by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), guaranteeing control of ingredients from the moment they enter the plant, right through to distribution.
Fruits from Québec
In addition to producing our elderberries, Fruitomed sources other Québec producers who provide all the small fruits processed by FRUITOMED.
These partners must also produce superior quality fruits and cultivate them with the required methods (without the use of pesticides or herbicides).
FRUITOMED
Proudly Canadian, FRUITOMED is specialized in the production of concentrated antioxidant products since 2009.
Discover our products, made with medicinal ingredients that are efficient for health and highly concentrated in polyphenols, such as anthocyanins, quercetins, rutins, resveratrols, dihydromyricetins, proanthocyanidins, catechins, etc. These are bioactive molecules extracted from the most antioxidant fruits grown in diverse regions of Québec in Canada (elderberry, blue honeysuckle (haskap), chokeberry (aronia), black currant, wild blueberry and cranberry).
Certified by HEALTH CANADA with a NPN licence, our products are sold under the IMMUNIA® brand. They are used to modulate and regulate the immune system and promote the balance of the intestinal microbiota, as well as for their anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and antiviral properties and for eye health.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
To manufacture high quality products, starting with high quality fruits is essential to us. That is why all our products are made from carefully selected, hand-picked elderberries to ensure they are healthy and perfectly ripe.
For FRUITOMED, it is essential that all the fruits used to make our products are PERFECTLY RIPE when they are picked. The fruit ripens on the trees to make sure they contain all of their natural molecules and are saturated with antioxidants.
Furthermore, when they arrive at the plant, the elderberries, cranberries, wild blueberries, cassis, haskap, and aronia are sorted to make sure that only perfectly ripened, dark-coloured, Grade A fruits are selected to make IMMUNIA products. This is why our IMMUNIA® products are top quality and efficient for your health… thanks to the high level and the quality of the polyphenols they contain!
OUR GOAL!
Parents of 3 young children, we wanted to make the antioxidant intake in our diet easier, even during the months when fruits are out of season, and develop products that could be consumed efficiently, easily and quickly, and taste delicious.
After many years of research, we developed a cold concentration process that allows for the concentration of molecules and the conservation of all the polyphenols contained in the fruits.
We then marketed our product line under the “IMMUNIA®” brand.
Our main mission was to market high quality products with the principle of being efficient for health, easy to consume and delicious.
PIONEERS IN THE FIELD OF POLYPHENOLS (NATURAL ANTIOXIDANTS)
Fruitomed’s IMMUNIA® products were the first natural health products made from Québec elderberries to receive Health Canada’s approval for the claim, “provides natural antioxidants to maintain good health.”

Although elderberries have been recognized for their antiviral properties for many years, it is thanks to FRUITOMED and its many scientific partners that Québec’s elderberries have been made popular for their excellent antioxidant properties. Also, Fruitomed is proud to collaborate to various causes and cancer research since 2013.

Partner in cancer research
Fruitomed collaborated with the Chaire de Recherche en Prévention et Traitement du Cancer de l’UQAM for a study evaluating the « IMMUNIA® Elderberry Concentrate » and the elderberries grown by Fruitomed. (Journal of Functional Foods. Vol. 40, 2018, 164-179).
All IMMUNIA® products contain "elderberry concentrate" as a basic ingredient.
