Our story

A solid foundation

Fruitomed was born in Quebec out of a passion for research-backed natural health, with an unwavering commitment to quality and transparency.

2010

Getting started with American elderberry

Fruitomed's story began in 2010 with the cultivation, development, and enhancement of elderberry cultivars selected by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. These cultivars were chosen for their exceptional fruit quality and their natural richness in bioactive compounds. This experience allowed the company to develop recognized expertise in processing polyphenol-rich small fruits and in manufacturing high-value natural ingredients. That same experience still allows us today to support our partner producers through a deep understanding of agricultural realities, production challenges, and quality requirements.

2013

Scientific collaborations

Fruitomed has collaborated with several researchers and scientific institutions to study the properties of the polyphenols and bioactive compounds found in Canadian elderberry. This work has contributed to advancing scientific knowledge and to developing our expertise in the valorization of bioactive compounds from small fruits.

2014

The beggining int the transformation activities

To master the entire value chain, Fruitomed is investing in the development of a facility specialized in small-fruit processing and the manufacturing of natural ingredients. This milestone marks the beginning of the company's manufacturing operations and the development of recognized expertise in food processing and the valorization of bioactive compounds.

2017

Health Canada certified

Fruitomed reaches an important milestone with the granting of its natural health product manufacturing licence issued by Health Canada. This licence authorizes the company to manufacture, package, label, and market natural health products across Canada, in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

2018

Launch of the first approved products

Fruitomed obtains the natural product authorizations (NPN) for its first natural health products and launches the IMMUNIA® line. This milestone marks the start of commercializing products with health claims.

2019

Food compliance and international export

Fruitomed obtains its licence from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), confirming its compliance with Canadian requirements for food safety, traceability, and quality control. This recognition enables the company to support its export activities in international markets.

2022

Expansion into Europe

Fruitomed obtains the authorizations required to market several IMMUNIA products in the European Union. This achievement allows the company to expand its international presence with products that comply with European regulatory requirements.

2024

Development of bioactive ingredients

Fruitomed expands its expertise with the production of concentrated polyphenol-rich extracts and glycerin-based extracts. These new products are used in the nutraceutical, cosmetic, and food industries.

2026

Growth and international reach

Today, Fruitomed continues to grow through a distribution network that is constantly expanding across Canada and internationally. The company markets its natural health ingredients and products to partners across several markets, consolidating its position as an innovative player in the nutraceutical industry.
